AEQ has announced it was selected as the intercom system provider for all matches played in the Philippines for the 19th Men’s Basketball World Cup – held jointly in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia, under the organisation of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). A total of 32 national teams from five continental confederations competed for the world title during August and September 2023.
The technical execution of all the events played in the Philippines was entrusted to Mediapro as host broadcaster, who in collaboration with their local partner Cignal_TV selected the AEQ intercom system for all the coordination including the AEQ XPLORER wireless beltpacks, and the AEQ OLYMPIA3 commentary positions for the reporters deployed there.
AEQ CrossNET is a compact, one rack unit high intercom matrix with basic IP connectivity, based on Dante technology, compatible with the new AES 67 standard, carrying high-quality audio suitable for broadcast and AEQ TP8000 user panels. It also has high-quality balanced analogue audio inputs and outputs and includes support for legacy Kroma IP panels and interfaces with phone bandwidth compressed audio, and for Kroma panels with digital audio link. Thanks to its scalability, from a 40 x 40 system to a 168 x168 system, AEQ CROSSNET offers a wide range of external connections: analogue, digital, AoIP Dante, and low bit rate IP ports.
In this system architecture, the 8000 Series AEQ intercom panels have been designed to achieve the highest level of audio quality, where the signal is digitised and processed at 24bits@48kHz, giving a bandwidth of 20 Hz to 20 kHz and negligible distortion and noise levels. The audio is digitally processed in the TP8000 user panels to cancel acoustic echo and automatically level the voice power and speech habits of each operator. The acoustics have been carefully studied to achieve the best intelligibility and natural sound.
Finally, the AEQ OLYMPIA 3 commentary unit can work standalone or connectable via 8-channel AoIP link, with Dante protocol in a scalable way, either integrated in IP Intercom System, or connected to the IP commentary system matrix for large events.
AEQ OLYMPIA3 features full mono or stereo stand-alone sound mixer with mixing, routing, tone, and dynamics control. 3 commentary channels and a dual or stereo line input; allowing simultaneous listening to up to 8 remote and two local sources. It offers dual 48V, DC, PoE+ and external power supply, as well as software configuration and remote control.
