Entries are now open for the 2023 CBAA Community Radio Awards with the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia encouraging members to step forward to have their station’s achievements recognised.
“This has been a landmark year for community broadcasting, as the sector charts its course over the next 10 years with the Roadmap 2033 project and the government’s review into sector sustainability,” said Jon Bisset, CBAA CEO.
“And you have continued your vital work of informing, entertaining and connecting with communities around Australia. Every week, you bring local music, culture, and content that brings comfort and connection to millions of Australians.
“We invite you to reflect on the past 12 months and celebrate your achievements for the 2023 CBAA Community Radio Awards. While we look forward to the future, take a moment to look back on the contributions of your peers and let us know who most deserves recognition.
“We’re looking forward to seeing your entries, hearing your stories and celebrating your accomplishments.”
Award Spotlight – The Tony Staley Award
The Tony Staley Award is awarded to community radio stations that demonstrate excellence in upholding the values of democracy, diversity, access and independence. This year’s Conference will be the first time the Award is granted since Tony passed away in May this year. Could your station be a deserving winner of this distinguished Award?
Ange Kent, President of 2022 winner BayFM, last year described winning as “the highest honour a station could receive”, going on to say: “For these awards to go to a regional station shows how important our local independent voices are for our community.”
