Australia’s Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice are being reviewed for the first time since 2008, and as of October 27 are open for public consultation.
The consultation period begins on Thursday, October 27 and ends on Thursday, December 15.
Those seeking to comment are invited to find the draft Codes at https://www.cbaa.org.au/sector-leadership/community-radio-broadcasting-codes-practice-review, and can comment both individually and on behalf of their organisation. A survey can also be used to respond, which can be found at https://survey.alchemer.eu/s3/90500293/Codes-of-Practice-survey.
The Codes are reviewed periodically to reflect changing community standards and remain relevant in the contemporary media environment.
According to the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA), the peak body representing the greatest number of community broadcasting licences in Australia, it is hoped that the revised Codes will be clearer, more flexible, and less onerous for stations to comply with.
Those seeking to respond to the Codes will be able to answer a short online survey or provide a written submission via email codes@cbaa.org.au or via post at:
