Gravity Media Delivers ‘Australia Welcomes Modi’

Gravity Media, the provider of live production and media services, has detailed the broadcast technology and television production undertaking that saw Gravity Media Australia create and deliver Australia Welcomes Modi, the key public event during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Australia.

Prime Minister Modi shared the stage with Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Australia Welcomes Modi before an audience of 20,000 people at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney’s Olympic Park and a significant global television audience across Australia, India, and other major international markets.

The event included 3 hours of cultural performances and forecourt festival.
Gravity Media Australia was appointed last month by the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation as the broadcast technology and production partner for Australia Welcomes Modi.

In a complex technology and logistics undertaking, Gravity Media deployed state-of-the-art high definition outside broadcast trucks and satellite units to deliver coverage of the event to television networks and news organisations in Australia and around the world.

In addition to creating and producing the global all-screens coverage of Australia Welcomes Modi, Gravity Media Australia also delivered the separate unilateral broadcast technology requirements for Doordarshan, India’s public service broadcaster, in its coverage of the event for audiences in India.

Gravity Media Australia’s Production Centre in Sydney was entrusted with creating and delivering all encoded feeds for multiple YouTube channels and service Australian and international television networks and news agencies requirements.

Beyond this broadcast technology undertaking, Gravity Media was appointed by the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation to furnish the complete event production, including venue and event technical direction, lighting, audio and stage management, and coordination with authorities and the teams for Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese, along with working closely with the Foundation to deliver a major event for not only the 20,000 people in the audience but a significant global television, online and streaming audience.

The Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that encourages cooperation between Australia and India, advancing the shared values of democracy, inclusive economic development, and mutual respect. The Foundation brings together Indian-Australian organisations and institutions to encourage collaboration within the region and expand opportunities for engagement with India.

Sayee Ganjekar, Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation, said: “We are deeply grateful for the support and coverage provided by Gravity Media. The quality of the event coverage surpassed all expectations.

“Gravity Media’s team demonstrated exceptional expertise in capturing and presenting the essence of the event, showcasing the performances, cultural exchanges, and both Prime Minister Modi’s speech and Prime Minister Albanese’s welcome with remarkable detail and precision. The seamless production and delivery of the broadcast ensured that audiences at Qudos Bank Arena and worldwide experienced the beauty and vibrancy of the event.

“We acknowledge Gravity Media’s remarkable contribution and for being an integral part of our journey to Welcome Modi to Australia and celebrate diversity and promote cultural exchange within Australia.”

Mike Purcell, Head of Production at Gravity Media Australia, said: “All of us at Gravity Media Australia take great pride in delivering Australia Welcomes Modi.

“It was an outstanding experience, an event at such a high-level and involving global world leaders only comes along once and while.

“What added so much to this project is our client for Australia Welcomes Modi is a not-for-profit community organisation, a team of dedicated people with their hearts invested in producing the best possible event for the Indian Prime Minister and the diaspora in Australia.

“When the Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation approached us in the weeks leading up to the event, we were honoured to take on the project and excited to work with them and bring together such a large-scale event in such a short timeframe.
