Lingo Pictures’ Lambs Of God Scoops the Pool At AACTA Awards

Lambs of God, the four-part mini-series from Australia’s Lingo Pictures, has scooped the pool at Australia’s premier film and television awards, the AACTAs, taking out eight awards including Best Telefeature or Mini Series and Best Direction in a Television Drama or Comedy for Jeffery Walker.

The series also received AACTA Awards for Best Cinematography in Television (Don McAlpine), Best Original Score in Television (Bryony Marks), Best Production Design in Television (Chris Kennedy), Best Costume Design in Television (Xanthe Heubel), Best Sound Sound in Television (Nick Emond, Stephen Smith, Paul Devescovi and Mia Stewart), Best Hair and Makeup (Zeljka Stanin, Paul Pattison, Cheryl Williams and Anita Howell-Lowe) and Best New Female Talent (Asha Boswarva).

The series received a record number nominations for the AACTAs.

Lambs of God stars Emmy Award winning actress Ann Dowd (The Handmaids Tale, The Leftovers), Australia’s much-loved stage and screen star Essie Davis (Game of Thrones, Babadook, The Slap and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries) UK actress Jessica Barden (The End of the F*****World, The Lobster), and was produced by Lingo Pictures’ Jason Stephens.

The series is based on the best-selling Australian novel by Marele Day, beautifully adapted for the screen by writer Sarah Lambert (Love Child, A Place to Call Home, Love My Way), and directed by Jeffrey Walker (Modern Family, Ali’s Wedding, Rake, Jack Irish). Cinematographer was Academy Award-nominee Don McAlpine (The Dressmaker, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet). The series screened on Foxtel earlier this year, achieving the highest audience figures for a drama series launch for Foxtel Showcase since May 2018.

Lambs of God received production investment funding from Screen Australia in association with Create NSW.

Lingo Pictures is also celebrating the success of its new series Upright, starring Tim Minchin, which has just broadcast to audience and critical acclaim on Sky UK and Australia’s Foxtel. The company’s six-part series The Secrets She Keeps is currently in post-production.
