A big part of Magna System’s stand at METexpo 22 is the fact that all of the solutions being demonstrated there are “all IP solutions”. This is particularly significant in its Contribution & Distribution demo area where it will feature solutions from MediaKind, Enensys, Appear, Nevion, VideoFlow, Actus Digital and coralbay.tv.
MediaKind’s demo will feature a wide range of encoding and decoding products and solutions that cover the end-to-end media value chain. Key to this area and most relevant to the Australian market are MediaKind’s Cygnus Contribution and Cygnus Distribution for broadcast contribution and distribution. Also demonstrated will be Aquila Streaming for OTT services and Aquila Broadcast for DTH/DTT services and Prisma Core and Prisma Edge for Advertising and Rights Distribution.
Visitors to the ENENSYS demo will experience IPGuardX, ENENSYS’ latest intelligent IP automatic change-over for uncompressed content over IP using ST-2110 standard. Based on a full software design running on COTS servers, the IPGuardX embeds smart components analysis, immediate and automatic switching, ensuring that all uncompressed content are delivered 24/7 with the best QoS and QoE.
Magna is also demonstrating Appear’s X Platform, the high-capacity, versatile, ultra-low latency platform for high-speed video networking, enhanced IP security and advanced compression for the remote production, contribution and distribution markets. The company will highlight how the Appear solution is designed to be the universal tool for broadcast contribution, distribution and modern DTH delivery, its dynamic distribution & processing capabilities and its transcoding to and from AVC and HEVC functionality.

Next is Nevion with its Virtuoso standards-based, virtualisation-ready, software-defined media node that can perform a variety of real-time functions in the converged IP LAN/WAN network. With its functionality easily modified in the field through software, Magna will demonstrate how Nevion Virtuoso puts versatility at any user’s fingertips enabling them to achieve a faster time to production and greater cost-effectiveness.
Virtuoso is the culmination of over 20 years of Nevion experience in the media and broadcasting industry and 15 years delivering IP solutions. It embeds an unparalleled level of know-how, both in LAN and WAN environments. It can also be used for broadcasting, cinema, governmental and other applications, where high-performance, high-reliability and low latency are mission critical.
VideoFlow is widely credited as the secure video delivery over any IP network specialists. At METexpo, Magna will highlight why securing video delivery over IP networks is business-critical for any broadcast operation and how VideoFlow’s solutions in this area are second to none. When broadcasting over public networks you need tools to protect your environment from cyber threats to ensure uninterrupted service 24/7 and VideoFlow Digital Video Gateway (DVG) products ensure secured and reliable broadcast-quality video over any IP network.
VideoFlow’s DVG integrated firewall blocks any unauthorised traffic from entering the DVG, while encrypted virtual private network (VPN) tunnels eliminate both eavesdropping and hacking.
The DVG software is the perfect choice for live broadcast over any IP network including over the internet, converting legacy interfaces like ASI to IP, connecting to multiple services with each using different video protection protocol and when you are missing features that complement your current live broadcast over IP solution.
The Actus Digital demo will show the industry’s most intelligent broadcast media platform for broadcast recording, monitoring, and compliance, live clipping for OTT and social applications and VOD and catch-up TV clipping.

Actus Digital’s broadcast recording platform complies with all of the TV regulatory requirements, including loudness and closed caption regulations. Its clips creation platform provides a completely automated workflow for live clips creation, including ingest, editing, dynamic metadata, transcoding, and exporting to social media, OTT, or any other platform. The solution is simple to use, cost-effective, and allows users to monitor and edit multiple streams at the same time. Actus Digital’s media platform also includes automatic content and ad tracking and integration of ratings information for better competitive analysis.
Last, but by no means least, is a demo dedicated to cloud native playout and workflow specialist, coralbay.tv and its coralPlay solution – the next generation playout product that has been designed using microservices and is deployed using Docker containers and Kubernetes.

coralPlay is a new generation of playout software that has been designed from the outset to work in the cloud but that can also be run on standard PCs, should the customer prefer to host the system in their facility. The software provides an automation control interface as well as a video pipeline, delivering video and audio in a variety of output formats. As well as delivering primary video, coralPlay provides secondary functions such as graphics and subtitling.
The system can scale from one to hundreds of channels. Channels can be launched within seconds and also decommissioned easily after use, all in software, without the need for complex re-wiring or having to take the system down to perform software updates.
CoralPlay is able to support multiple frame rates within the same system thereby enabling the same system to control channels for both NTSC and PAL regions at the same time. The coralbay.tv demonstration will run entirely from AWS cloud.
Magna will also be a key participant in the drinks and networking events held on each day of METexpo 22
