SCA Celebrates Mushroom’s 50th Anniversary with New LiSTNR Station

SCA has announced a special partnership with Mushroom Group in support of its ‘Mushroom 50’ campaign, celebrating 50 Years of Making Noise and the theatrical release of the feature documentary, Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story, now in theatres.

LiSTNR has launched a limited-edition digital station, MUSHROOM 50, dedicated to the best of Mushroom Music, reliving the journey of Mushroom through the power of music. The station will also be available on Melbourne DAB+.

Paying tribute to the late, great Mushroom founder, Michael ‘MG’ Gudinski, and the artists that paved the record company’s legacy of great music and nurturing talent, the station will feature full album plays, top 10 hits, live performances, acoustic versions, classic covers, new music and exclusive artist moments.

To continue the celebration, Melbourne’s 105.1 Triple M will host a week-long lunchtime special called MG Moments, celebrating the best of the Melbourne music scene from Mushroom Music and honouring Michael ‘MG’ Gudinski. Hosted by Matty O’Gorman from Triple M’s 2023 ACRA nominated Homegrown with Matty O, the special will replay nationally at 10pm across Triple M’s metro stations nationally and on LiSTNR.

The series will share some of the crazy stories from behind the scenes at Mushroom, from early talent signings to risking it all to sign Kylie Minogue and will interview some of MG’s best mates such as Lee Simon and Jimmy Barnes, who share their favourite memories of MG and the impact he had on their careers.

Michael Gudinski’s son and CEO of Mushroom Group, Matt Gudinski, will co-host a full show alongside Matty O, sharing what it was like ‘Growing up Mushroom’, remembering his early memories and stories of touring with Ed Sheeran and the Foo Fighters. Matt will also look ahead to the next crop of Mushroom’s artists and give a sneak peek into what can be expected from Mushroom’s big concert in November.

SCA Chief Content Officer, Dave Cameron, said: “It’s an honour for SCA to reflect on the incredible impact both MG and Mushroom have had on the Australian music landscape over 50 years. The relationship between SCA and Mushroom runs deep and long, and we’re privileged to have Triple M relive the magic of Mushroom.”

Mushroom Group CEO, Matt Gudinski, said: “SCA has been such an integral partner to Mushroom across our 50-year history and we are thrilled to partner with them to deliver a series that captures the spirit of Mushroom and my late father, showcasing the people and artists that helped evolve the Australian music scene into what it is today.”
