Singapore telcos StarHub and M1 have announced the signing of an exclusive agreement to cooperate and submit a joint bid for a 5G licence.
The parties are working towards the 17 February 2020 closing date for 5G proposals. No details have been released on the terms of the agreement.
There are currenty four licence slots available. The country’s Infocomm Media Development Authority says Singapore’s vision is to be a global front-runner for innovation in 5G applications and service, supported by a thriving 5G ecosystem as well as a secure and resilient 5G infrastructure. It says the nation is on track to commence the roll out of 5G mobile networks in 2020, with fullfledged 5G standalone capability covering at least half of Singapore by end-2022.
