New Zealand’s SKY Sport has announced that an alternative te reo (Maori language) commentary feed will be available during the two Māori All Blacks matches against Fiji on July 13th And 20th.
SKY Director of Sport, Tex Teixeira says: “It’s great to be able to offer the option of te reo commentary for these two rugby matches. As a kiwi broadcaster we’re pleased to be able to customise our broadcast in this way, and to give customers the choice to hear Maori or English commentary for these two special matches.”
The SKY Sport alternative te reo commentary for July 13 will feature experienced broadcaster Te Arahi Maipi. For the second match on the 20th, Maipi will be joined by New Zealand Member of Parliament, Peeni Henare.
Te Arahi Maipi says: “Itʻs a real joy to call the game we all love in te reo Māori. My main duty as a fluent Māori broadcaster in Aotearoa is to normalise te reo. So I take great pride to be given this opportunity on SKY Sport.”
SKY Sport viewers with a set top box will be able to access the alternative commentary by pressing the yellow button on their SKY remote once the match coverage has started.
