Thailand Crack Down on Illegal Foreign Film Crews

The Bangkok Post reports that Thailand’s Tourism Department will be cracking down on illegal foreign film crews following the arrest of a Chinese production crew shooting a pornographic film in the Southeast Asian country.

Thailand’s Film and Video Act (2008) mandates that film crews wanting to produce a foreign film in the country must first seek permission, with the production’s screenplay, plot and summary subject to approval by the country’s film and video censorship committee.

In the case of the Chinese pronographic film, its producers are facing fines of bewteen 100,000 and 1 million baht (US$2775 to US$27,760).
