The Bangkok Post reports that the selection of seven new members of Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) is expected to be finalised by September 30, 2021.
The Post quotes the Secretariat of Thailand’s Senate as saying a total of 78 candidates have applied.
Members of the board will be drawn from seven sectors, including telecom, broadcasting, television, consumer protection, “people’s liberty and rights promotion”, law, and economics.
The existing board has been working under a special extension since October 2017, granted by the country’s previous military regime.
