AEQ Returns to IBC Show

AEQ will present its new solutions at the IBC 2022 global exhibition to be held in Amsterdam from 9 to 12 September at booth 8C55.

The three highlights for remote and demanding working environments that will hopefully get the public interested are ATRIUM digital console, the XPEAK intercom and the TALENT audiocodec.

AEQ, manufacturer of equipment for audio, video and communications solutions, with more than 40 years serving the broadcast industry, has carried out an extraordinary effort during the pandemic to develop new products and improve existing ones, covering each of the areas of activity of this company, so that all our clients can enjoy new equipment of their interest.

ATRIUM: DIGITAL IP AUDIO CONSOLE FOR RADIO AND TV BROADCAST AND PRODUCTION

Manage up to 1000 channels of local or IP audio controllable through one or more surfaces, each with up to 90+ motorised and pageable faders.

It includes the advantages that technology makes available to us at this time: The new X_CORE engine that ATRIUM incorporates can be safely shared between up to 6 consoles, since it has tools to develop redundancy capacity at all levels. Accepts and delivers audio in the most varied formats used today in audio and television production.

It also allows the transport of inputs and outputs and control through the different equipment of a system, such as routers, audio codecs, broadcast telephone systems, broadcast automation, or intercom systems: Specifically, it has absolute control over the NETBOX4 MH and STUDIOBOX microphone, headset and studio signalling interfaces, which, located in the studios, make installations more flexible.

Each ATRIUM control surface can be completely customised. Thus, classic ways of working can be implemented, for example: each channel with motorised fader can have A/B configuration, or create up to 8 channel pages. Each channel can have direct access to pre-defined bus sends, or the channels can be defined for bidirectional multiplexing so that each user has the mix of all but him. Or handle multi-channel groupings like 5.1. Mixed or very special ways of working can also be configured with flexible programming of channels and keys to act on the routing of the console, or have several control stations on the same console, to facilitate the work of the presenter or producer.

In addition, it has memories for storage and instant recovery of scenes, and processes. Mix automation with autogain and automix functions, avoids the need for intensive and precise handling of the faders. It incorporates a wide set of audio processing functions. On the other hand, there is a virtual console application on PC for remote control and easy maintenance.

All of this configures an audio mixing and processing system that allows highly complex work to be carried out with great precision and quality in both radio and television production and broadcasting.

XPEAK: A MATRIX-LESS INTERCOM SYSTEM READY FOR REMOTE PRODUCTION

XPEAK supports up to 28 user terminals in different formats: desktop, rack, wired belt-pack, wireless belt-pack, and PC application. All terminals interconnect with maximum operational flexibility and without the need for a matrix.

XPEAK interconnectivity is very simple even if the devices are on different locations. It is only required that the devices have access through the Internet. This makes it very easy to set up for the coordination of remote productions.

Its wired user terminals have Bluetooth and USB connections, admitting all types of headsets (headphone/microphone combinations) with these interfaces and facilitating connection with smartphones and PCs.

Stationary user terminals have eight keys and the belt-packs four keys. If not used in a XPEAK system, these units can work as user panels or terminals in large systems with AEQ Conexia or Crossnet matrix.

The system is complemented with the XPEAK_IF interface and format converter. This provides for analogue inputs and outputs, digital USB, and AoIP AES67/Dante

Due to its extraordinary adaptability and its adjusted price, we trust that it will be preferred by users.

TALENT: ULTRA-COMPACT IP AUDIOCODEC FOR PERSONAL USE

TALENT provides connectivity for professional microphones and headphones for the host or guests of a program, from home or anywhere. Audio quality can not be distinguished from any of the voices that may be present at the studio of the station.

But TALENT provides other, complementary features that are extremely useful:

An external Stereo audio source can be connected physically and through a high-quality Bluetooth connection. These sources are added to the microphone signal, allowing you to broadcast and comment on concerts, sports or other events, or individual audio files or play-lists from a phone or PC and present them.

If a Bluetooth connection is established with a phone, this can be used to carry out a phone interview, either through a conventional call, or if we want more quality, through applications such as Skype, WhatsApp, Zoom and others. Calls can be mixed to the program that is sent to the station.

To send the audio to the station, a domestic internet connection can be used, ADSL, fiber, or a wireless 3G / 4G / 5G data connection through a simple router / modem with a SIM card.

In situations where there is no IP connection it is possible to reach the Studio in high-definition voice quality (HD voice), using the Bluetooth connectivity of the smartphone.

TALENT is designed for desktop use and occupies a footprint of approx. 20 x 13 cm. On the front panel: microphone and headphones, level adjustments, off-hook-call / hang-up button, hang-up button, and HELP button to request the attention from the station operator.

Nevertheless, the TALENT does not require the user to control it. This can be done through two applications:

If the user has the knowledge, there is a local app for smartphone, TALENT PILOT, which, in addition to controlling the equipment, also allows to configure the TALENT and to establish the connection.

It is also possible to use the PhoenixControl, remote control application. This allows for the full remote configuration and operation of single unit or a pool of TALENT and other AEQ stationary and portable Audiocodecs. With PhoenixControl your station’s Talents don’t have to worry about anything else but to do what they do best!

TALENT can be delivered to the user ready for use, or it can be configured and controlled locally or remotely.

TALENT supports low or high impedance headphones and dynamic or condenser microphone. It can be powered from the USB output of a PC, or from a DC source (5-12 volts). In addition, it has an AC adaptor.
