TASCAM has announced a new, updated version of its Hi-Res Editor software, a Windows and Mac DSD/WAV editing package. The software supports playback and export of DSD files without first converting them to PCM audio. This free software is available as a download for Windows and Mac computer systems and is an ideal tool for users of the TASCAM DA-3000SD Stereo Master Recorder.
Mac computer users will certainly appreciate that this new version of the TASCAM Hi-Res Editor is now compatible with Apple silicon. At the request of many Mac users, TASCAM engineering has taken this feedback to heart and implemented this important change. Similarly, this new software version now supports notarisation. Notarisation is an essential feature for software distributed outside the Mac App Store, such as the TASCAM Hi-Res Editor, which is available through the official TASCAM website. Notarisation ensures compliance with macOS security standards and meets Apple’s security guidelines—allowing the computer to recognise the software as safe and ensuring quick installation without security warnings.
This new version of the TASCAM Hi-Res Editor adds two valuable new features for users. The first is support for Mono to L/R stereo conversion, enabling two mono files to be combined into a stereo file. To accomplish this, both mono files must share the same audio format, sampling frequency, and bit depth. Additionally, the new update also supports L/R stereo to mono splitting, allowing a single stereo file to be divided into two individual mono files, making it easier to create independent left and right channel audio.
