Automated Media QC and Monitoring from Interra

According to a market analysis report by Grand View Research, the global video streaming market was valued at USD$89.03 billion in 2022, and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 21.5% from 2023 to 2030. Over this period, APAC is projected to demonstrate significant growth at the highest CAGR of any region. At BroadcastAsia 2023, Interra Systems (booth 6A1-06) will showcase major updates to its award-winning content QC and monitoring solutions, which allow APAC OTT service providers and broadcasters to address key challenges in meeting today’s ever-increasing demand for quality. This includes audio/video QoE and QoS, metadata creation and management, and orchestrating cloud and hybrid deployments, while simplifying workflows through automating media processing and verification across the entire digital media supply chain.

To ensure better QoS and QoE for APAC viewers, Interra Systems’ ORION and ORION-OTT monitoring solutions address a variety of cloud deployment scenarios for linear broadcast, IP-based delivery infrastructures, and live/VOD OTT content. Recent enhancements to ORION include improved support for localisation, more HDR and SMPTE ST 2110 checks, and support for automated, time-based monitoring of feeds. Upgrades to ORION-OTT offer enhanced support for localisation, as well as Dolby Atmos audio and monitoring of low-latency streams, more DASH compliance checks, and improvements in freeze detection.

Offering comprehensive QoS/QoE monitoring of SMPTE ST 2110 essence streams, including SMPTE ST 2110 main and redundancy signals, and NMOS integration, Interra Systems’ ORION 2110 Probe allows APAC broadcasters to future-proof the end-to-end monitoring of video quality in IP environments. For enterprise-wide visibility, ORION Central Manager (OCM) enables the central management of multiple ORION linear and ORION-OTT setups — either in the same or diverse geographic locations. OCM offers multiple new features such end-to-end ad insertion monitoring and RHEL 8.4.

Leading the charge in ML/AI-enabled automated QC platforms, Interra Systems’ BATON addresses the most demanding QC standards for quality and compliance. Recent updates include enhancements for QC and analysis of UHD content, optimized IMF analysis, and optimized reading and downloads from S3 cloud. New, enhanced video quality checks include detection and decoding of QR codes, video dropout, logo detection, color banding for UHD content, and burnt-in-text recognition. BATON now also offers complete support and checks for subtitles and transport stream formats, as well as Dolby Atmos, enhanced audio quality checks like Audio Silence, and new formats.

An automated solution utilising cutting-edge ML and automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology, BATON Captions allows broadcasters and media professionals to address all their caption-related requirements, from generation to localization. The latest features for BATON Captions include IAM-based S3 access; additional languages; burnt-in text detection; profane word detection; next-generation format-specific checks; recaptioning; and much more.
