The John Leake OAM ACS Scholarship – Apply Today!

The John Leake OAM ACS Emerging Cinematographer Scholarship is a prestigious honour with the Australian Cinematographers Society. It is a grant to a young cinematographer to further their education, training or professional work and will be awarded at this year’s National Awards in Brisbane.

It is named after a co-founder of the ACS, John Leake OAM ACS, who began his career as a 15-year-old at Movietone News. He received his accreditation in 1963, became a Life Member in 1988 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997. John passed away in 2009, and his legacy as NSW President, Federal President and Official Historian continues with this scholarship.

The 2023 winner of this award was Joanna Cameron from the NSW branch.
