X-Pert Multimedia Solutions, a broadcast software, and service provider, announces that its flagship product X-Pert Playout, and respectively Channel-in-a-Box (a bundle of X-Pert Playout, X-Pert Graphics, and X-Pert Ingest), has been integrated with OnAir TV, the scheduling system of Caliope Media Software. OnAir TV is a highly automated TV scheduler that replaces the well-known manual drag and drop playlist generation process. It creates a playlist based on a set of rules and templates. OnAir TV schedules series automatically and it takes care of premieres and reruns. The software is able to fill gaps without human interaction. Once the playlist is created, it can be changed manually if needed before being exported to the X-Pert Playout. Besides the playlist scheduler, OnAir TV includes a Media Asset Management system (MAM) and an EPG generator.
“OnAir TV gives additional value to our products. Now we can guarantee a 100 percent automated process for every linear TV channel, without any need for any human interaction. As a result of the reduced human activity, we can ensure fewer mistakes and a more optimised process in terms of time and human resources invested,” explains Ludmil Kushinov, CEO of X-Pert Multimedia Solutions.
“We want to make media operations more efficient, and that is why we invested our efforts in developing a user-friendly, stable, flexible, and technical advanced software,” says Norbert Deelstra, founder of Caliope Media Software. “We are very happy to partner with X-Pert, one of the industry-leading playout platforms. By partnering we can be even more sure that the integration between OnAir TV and the X-Pert software will work flawlessly at all times. This will increase the reliability of the whole system stack and will reduce the time and effort the TV broadcasters need to spend on their software.
The customers can take advantage of the integration with OnAir TV regardless they have a perpetual licence of X-Pert Playout or X-Pert Channel-in-a-Box or rely on a subscription-based model.
X-Pert Multimedia Solutions’ product list covers the three steps of the TV broadcast process: broadcast delivery, process improvement, and redundancy. The first step includes the flagship products X-Pert Playout, X-Pert Ingest, and X-Pert Graphics, the bundle X-Pert Channel-in-a-Box, and X-Pert List, included in X-Pert Playout and X-Pert Channel-in-a-Box for free but could be bought alone also. The second step, process improvement, gives additional value and functionalities to clients’ software infrastructure. Here are listed X-Pert Playout Control, X-Pert Content Replicator, X-Pert Compact MAM, and X-Pert Quality Check. The third step, redundancy, is the way to make the client’s system more reliable. Here come X-Pert Backup Supervisor and X-Pert IP Switch.
Flagship products:
- X-Pert Playout is a playout automation solution, suitable for broadcast organisations of any size. It is available in UHD/HD/SD, SDI, or IP and secures operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It supports SRT on both the encoding and decoding sides, Intel QSV hardware-accelerated MPEG2/H264/HEVC decoding, and MPEG2/H264/HEVC encoding. Other key features to mention are SCTE35 triggers reading and generation over IP UDP transport stream, SCTE104 triggers reading and generation over SDI outputs (Decklink, AJA, Deltacast), MPEG DASH dynamic adaptive streaming over HTTP output, etc. Last but not least, music and movie channels can be 100 percent automated and work without any human interaction.
- X-Pert Graphics is our on-air CG and graphics manager. It lets you create static, dynamic, or fully automated objects such as rolls, crawls, multi-layered simultaneous still pictures, analog, and digital clocks, animated logos, etc., and save them in projects. These could easily be used for direct broadcasting or as customised templates for future use. In cases external data needs to be represented, all of these objects can be linked to external data sources such as RSS feeds, external data files, or GPI triggers.
- X-Pert Ingest enables multiple channels with HD or SD content to be captured simultaneously from HD/SD SDI digital feeds, analog sources, and MPEG transport streams. Four video sources can be monitored or ingested on a single screen and controlled via a new streamlined user interface. Audio levels are represented as loudness or true-peak displays and adjusted when required. X-Pert Ingest already supports SRT. Its newest features include: IP RTMP/HLS/RTSP/MPEG-2 DASH stream source, NVidia GPU hardware acceleration for H264/HEVC encoding content and IP feeds, and Intel CPU/GPU hardware acceleration for H264/HEVC encoding content.
