    DISASTER RECOVERY & LESSONS LEARNED

    June 11, 2020 @ 2:00 am - 3:00 am

In this session, we’ll talk to a couple of engineers who have first hand experience, when it comes to rebuilding after a full scale disaster. Charlie Wooten is the 2019 Robert W. Flanders SBE Engineer of the Year award recipient. His work with iHeartMedia in Panama City, Florida before, during and following hurricane Michael in 2018 is a textbook case on how to keep a station on air when things are literally blowing down around your ears. Tom Morris was instrumental in keeping signals from Results Radio broadcasting as much as possible during the California Camp Fire of 2018 and in rebuilding afterwards. Both of them have excellent information on what rebuilding requires, and ideas on hardening and redundancy to minimize the worry when a disaster does threaten.
