DOs and DONTs on YouTube
June 1, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
When it comes to driving large and diverse audiences for video, YouTube is king. It’s a platform where the rules and priorities remain stable.
Public media broadcasters need to consider YouTube as a proper distribution channel. Even with big budgets and quality content, the wrong strategic and organizational decisions can affect the success on YouTube.
In this online learning session, EBU Academy faculty member Brendan Miller will look at what’s going wrong and what we can learn from independent publishers who despite smaller budgets and fewer resources manage to flourish on the platform.
TOPICS COVERED IN THE SESSION:
The biggest mistake of inconsistency that television channels make on YouTube;
The pros and cons of basing a YouTube channel on one programme;
How to know your competition and be distinctive (with examples);
Why you should obsess over thumbnails and, as a bonus, three strategies that work.
