Making Your Mark as a New Cinematographer

Up-and-coming Hong Kong DP Rick Lau overcame all the challenges of shooting his 2020 Taipei Golden Horse nominated film “Hand Rolled Cigarette” with ALEXA Mini and the WCU-4. Discover how he trained for the film’s cinematography and how he quickly went from shooting short and indie films to becoming a globally recognized cinematographer.
About the cinematographer:
“Hand Rolled Cigarette” has only been DP Rick Lau’s 3rd feature film. The yet-to-be officially released film has already been nominated for 7 awards in the Taipei Golden Horse Festival, including Best Cinematography. This next generation Hong Kong filmmaker also shot “Ten Years – Season of the End”, “With Prisoners”, as well as short films and music videos.
