As production workflows become increasingly distributed across facilities, OB trucks, cloud environments and partner platforms, the ability to exchange video, audio and metadata streams efficiently has become a critical requirement. Many organisations still struggle with rigid integrations, duplicated configuration efforts and limited interoperability between systems.
HOME’s Stream Share App (SSA) addresses these challenges by providing a highly flexible and scalable mechanism to expose and exchange media flows among systems by introducing a flexible orchestration layer that decouples resource management and control from resource consumption. Built on open NMOS standards and deeply integrated into the HOME platform, the app enables seamless media exchange across locations, teams and technology vendors while keeping control exactly where it belongs: at the source.
Users are free to select the number of media flows they share. All required video, audio and metadata streams can be flexibly combined within a single Stream Share App instance and exposed as a single NMOS device to one or multiple external NMOS Registries, allowing the bundled essences to be registered with external devices.
Each Stream Share App instance supports up to 128x HD/3G/UHD video streams, 512x audio streams and 128x metadata streams bidirectionally. The system hosting the app not only sends resources, it can also receive flows from the target. Unused stream slots can be hidden to provide a highly intuitive user experience.
The receiving system can either be another HOME system (with an active NMOS Importer) or any third-party control or orchestration system. The Stream Share App itself only manages the control data for flow sharing. The actual essence streams are shared over dedicated network tielines between the source system and one or several target systems. Separating flow selection and management from flow consumption significantly simplifies integration workflows and enables efficient interoperability across distributed production environments.
The result is a simpler, faster and more scalable approach to interoperability that accelerates integration, reduces operational effort and enables seamless collaboration in distributed production environments.
