New MusiMap Intelligence Platform Helps Broadcasters

MusiMap, the B2B music intelligence company that is transforming how companies can harness the emotional power of music to reach consumers and unlock new commercial opportunities for all parties, has launched a new proprietary technology platform – an intelligence suite – with four new solutions.

Driven by 40 years of pioneering research by musicologist Pierre Lebecque, these solutions are set to transform how the connection between music and human emotion can be deployed for commercial purposes. To support the launch, MusiMap has appointed pioneering music technology executive and entrepreneur Ty Roberts to the role of Chief Commercial Officer.

MusiMap has one of the world’s most comprehensive emotional annotation databases. It can analyse music across more than 120 genres, 60 moods, 70 situations, 48 acoustic attributes and over 4,000 descriptive keywords in 12 languages, and growing.

The new B2B music platform introduces four unique products in the intelligence suite: MusiTag, MusiSearch, MusiProfile and MusiTrace. Each product addresses specific challenges, but together they form a practical music intelligence stack for organisations working with music at scale:

  • MusiTag tags tracks with more than 300 emotional, contextual and sonic attributes;
  • MusiSearch enables music supervisors to search for tracks by emotional profile or cultural context;
  • MusiProfile transforms audience preferences into detailed insights; and
  • MusiTrace is a fingerprinting tool that identifies and matches songs to known recordings for audio identification, usage monitoring and royalty management.

One of the leading companies to successfully map the emotional DNA of music using scientific methodology and data, MusiMap’s proprietary technology has helped businesses leverage music to strengthen and prolong consumer engagement. It is backed by decades of in-depth research and expert annotation and has been developed entirely in-house by a multidisciplinary team of more than 60 specialists.

Combining machine learning with human expertise, the four new products interpret and classify music by emotion, context and cultural meaning, accurately pairing songs with audiences, brands and creative projects. Among its other uses, the technology ensures the right music reaches the right listener at the right time, driving the emotional attachment of customers and, ultimately, delivering additional commercial value to both rights owners and the businesses that use their music.

Ty Roberts Appointed as Chief Commercial Officer

The launch of the new technology coincides with the appointment of Ty Roberts as Chief Commercial Officer, bringing more than 30 years of experience in music technology, product development and commercial strategy.

Having co-founded Gracenote in 1998, the world’s leading provider of music, video and sports metadata, Roberts spent nearly 18 years in senior product, commercial and corporate leadership roles, ultimately serving as Chief Strategy Officer and General Manager of Music.

He later became Universal Music Group’s first Chief Technology Officer, where he led technology strategy and developed new digital, creative and commercial opportunities across A&R, recorded music, media, consumer platforms and emerging technologies.

At MusiMap, Roberts will focus on strategic partnerships, helping translate the company’s intellectual property and technical capabilities into scalable products, licensing opportunities and enterprise applications.

Ty Roberts, Chief Commercial Officer at MusiMap, said: “From my first introduction to MusiMap, I was immediately impressed by the depth and versatility of its technology as well as its ability to understand music through emotion, context and cultural meaning. MusiMap has the potential to become an important intelligence layer for any business that uses music to engage audiences, from helping brands identify music that will resonate with potential customers to enabling music companies and platforms to search, organise and recommend vast catalogues with far greater precision.”

Light On Becomes First Commercial Customer to Adopt MusiMap’s New Intelligence Suite

Global music strategy and brand partnerships agency Light On is MusiMap’s first commercial customer, with the partnership marking a series of global commercial agreements set to be announced in the coming months.

Light On has delivered projects for brands including LVMH, Apple TV, Red Bull, UEFA, AlphaTheta and Golden Goose, alongside artists such as Charli XCX, Justice, Nile Rodgers and Grimes. The new intelligence suite will be integrated into Light On’s creative and commercial workflows, helping its teams identify music matching brand identities, audiences and desired emotional impact across the luxury, lifestyle, technology and media sectors.

Rick Hefferman, Founder and CEO, Light On, said: “Music usage for brands isn’t about chasing quick trends; it’s about creating compounding longevity and an emotional connection that feels authentic and true to the brands’ ethos. What excites us about MusiMap is that it gives us the ability to go past the usual high-level metrics towards granular understanding and validation of why every part of a piece of music resonates sonically with a brand’s target audience.

“Whether we’re building a campaign for a luxury brand or a cultural activation for a disruptive lifestyle/tech company, the combination of our expertise and MusiMap’s products helps us test faster, make deep, data-informed decisions and deliver music strategies with a level of confidence and precision that sets brands apart from 2026 onwards.”

Patrick Zucchetta, Chief Revenue Officer at MusiMap, said: “At MusiMap, we have spent years building technology that understands music through emotion, context and cultural meaning.

“This creates powerful commercial applications for companies such as Light On, helping them develop focused strategies that connect with consumers on an individual and emotional level. With his experience scaling music technologies and building strategic partnerships, Ty Roberts will help us bring MusiMap’s platform to more organisations around the world.”
