Broadband technology solutions company OpenVault has announced the strategic acquisition of Nimble This and the appointment of Nimble This founder, Brady Volpe, as Chief Product Officer.
Nimble This is a provider of software solutions for the cable industry and offers the PNM (Proactive Network Maintenance) platform and app, a comprehensive tool that enables service providers to proactively maintain and troubleshoot their networks.
According to OpenVault the acquisition results in a broadband technology powerhouse that combines OpenVault’s Profile Management Application (PMA) and Nimble This’ Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) solutions to enhance broadband success through improved operator profit margins, network capacity, and subscriber Quality of Experience (QoE).
With the acquisition, OpenVault say it has positioned itself as an unrivalled leader in broadband prescriptive optimisation, featuring automated PMA and PNM capabilities for HFC networks. This significantly broadens OpenVault’s customer base, with the addition of numerous Tier 1 customers both domestically and internationally. Following the acquisition, OpenVault says it will deliver top-tier monitoring, diagnostics, maintenance, management, optimisation, and other solutions to over 80 operators globally.
Volpe, a highly esteemed technologist with over 30 years of experience in the broadband industry, founded Nimble This in 2013. The company is committed to continuous innovation and product improvement. Its PNM platform uses DOCSIS standards, including pre-equalisation, fullband capture, upstream spectrum analysis, and other data analytics technologies, such as machine learning, to proactively identify and notify cable operators about impairments in the inside and outside plant. This complements OpenVault’s existing solutions for network performance, subscriber satisfaction, and operational access for IP networks.

OpenVault’s acquisition of Nimble This is its second major procurement in the last 18 months, with the previous acquisition of Velocidata at the end of 2021, which greatly enriched OpenVault’s intellectual property portfolio.
OpenVault will integrate the full suite of Nimble This technologies into its product lineup and will unveil its expanded product range from July 30 to August 2 at the NCTC Independent Show in Minneapolis.
