Google News Initiative

“As a former reporter and broadcaster with the BBC, one of my responsibilities was to find new ways to connect with our audience. At the Google News Lab, I lead a team of former journalists and news industry professionals – like Irene Jay Liu, our Asia- Pacific lead – who serve as a bridge between newsrooms and Google. We work with journalists around the world to support them as they confront challenges like misinformation and adapt to opportunities like AI and machine learning. Last month, we published the ‘Google for journalists’ guidebook, which gathers best practices for all of our newsgathering and storytelling tools in one place. It’s just one way we’re helping journalists strengthen digital skills.” Matt Cooke – Head of Google News Lab.
