New Zealand’s MediaWorks has announced it has appointed Jeff McDowall as Chief Operating Officer.
Jeff McDowall will bring his extensive commercial and financial experience of more than 30 years to the newly created role. As Chief Operating Officer he will be responsible for MediaWorks’ outdoor operations, as well as its finance, property, procurement and strategy functions.
Jeff will join MediaWorks after a significant career at Air New Zealand spanning more than two decades, most recently as Chief Financial Officer. It was announced in October last year he would depart the airline mid-2021.
Some of his other previous senior leadership roles at the airline include Acting CEO, Group General Manager – Corporate Finance and Group General Manager – Commercial. Prior to joining Air New Zealand in 2000 Jeff held roles with PricewaterhouseCoopers in New Zealand, Singapore and the US
and also spent time with Mobil Oil in New Zealand and London.
MediaWorks CEO Cam Wallace says Jeff’s extensive financial and commercial experience and proven track record will prove invaluable as MediaWorks drives organic growth, assesses its capital structure and potential acquisition opportunities in the market.
“We look forward to welcoming Jeff who will play a key role in ensuring MediaWorks is match fit in this new era for the business. Our fully integrated radio and outdoor business is resilient and well positioned to take advantage of ongoing strong demand, and has significant growth prospects.
“Jeff is a well respected business leader and I’m delighted to have him onboard as we look to seize opportunities and drive great results.”
Jeff McDowall’s appointment follows that of General Counsel Rachel Callaghan and Commercial Director Liz Fraser who started with MediaWorks in March. MediaWorks also made two new board appointments in March with Louise Bond and Nagaja Sanatkumar joining as independent directors.
