5th Kind Announces Support for AWS for Media and Entertainment Initiative

5th Kind, Collaborative Media Solutions has announced support for the AWS for Media and Entertainment initiative from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to simplify and achieve cloud-based studio production.

AWS for Media and Entertainment is an initiative featuring new and existing services and solutions from AWS and AWS Partners, built specifically for content creators, rights holders, producers, broadcasters, and distributors. AWS adds the newly announced Amazon Nimble Studio, a service that enables customers to set up creative studios in hours instead of weeks, to a portfolio of more purpose-built media and entertainment industry services than any other cloud, including AWS Elemental MediaPackage, AWS Elemental MediaConnect, AWS Elemental MediaLive, AWS Elemental MediaConvert, and Amazon Interactive Video Service (IVS). AWS for Media and Entertainment also simplifies the process of building, deploying, and reinventing mission-critical industry workloads by aligning AWS and AWS Partner capabilities against five solution areas: Content Production; Media Supply Chain and Archive; Broadcast; Direct-to-Consumer and Streaming; and Data Science and Analytics.

Content owners and the teams who create their content require solutions that streamline complex media development workflows and secure content created from those processes. As part of the media asset value chain, the API integration between CORE by 5th Kind and AWS Solutions, such as Media2Cloud and AWS Media Exchange, helps our joint media clients simplify their migration and ingestion process, providing seamless access to elastic cloud scale within their content lake.

CORE by 5th Kind is a highly secure, cloud-based collaboration and asset management platform focused on improving production workflows from script-to-screen and supporting remote production. When files are uploaded into CORE from a variety of integrated tools and sources, including live camera feeds from set, it automatically associates the metadata from the integrated system. This data makes every file a secure, reusable, findable asset as it moves through production workflows, file shares, and downloads. Every file is individually watermarked and granular permissions limit access to it. With a growing set of integrated tools for each phase of production, CORE can be your integrated workflow hub for any number of entertainment workflow needs.

Customers use CORE for studio asset management, dailies, post-production and VFX workflows, pre-production and art department workflows, and content security, as well as remote production feeds, recordings, and live events. CORE’s versatility allows entertainment teams at any stage of production, from any location, to engage in the creative process, all from a browser, with nothing to install, download or configure.

By participating in this initiative, 5th Kind media customers are able to build and adapt quickly to meet the demands of their creative teams, allowing them to focus on great storytelling and creating great content.

“We are pleased to collaborate with AWS on this important media initiative. Content creators benefit by leveraging the breadth of cloud enabled media workflows and services this combination provides, at a global scale, such as simplifying media workflow orchestration, ingestion, transcoding, intelligent storage and content analysis,” said Don Terry, Chief Revenue Officer at 5th Kind. “Now more than ever, media companies are looking for ways to securely improve their remote productivity and streamline production operations for distributed teams. Today, 5th Kind and AWS are helping them realise these objectives.”
