Gangwon 2024, the first Winter Youth Olympic Games hosted in Asia, takes place from January 19 to February 1 in Gangwon Province, South Korea.
Featuring a record number of 1900 competitors vying for 81 sets of medals in 15 disciplines across seven sports, the Winter Youth Olympic Games will be filmed for live television and digital streaming on Olympic Channel via https://olympics.com/ and the official Olympics app, with full session replays and highlights also available.
Located in the city of Gangneung, the Main Media Centre consists of the Main Press Area (MPA) and the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC).
The MPA features a Media Workroom where wired and wireless Internet access, power and lockers for camera equipment are provided. Additionally, photo-services, including rental and repair, are being provided by Sony. There is no dedicated room for interviews, but a space with lighting and background is available for interviews.
The IBC, meanwhile, includes various areas across the different floors of the Main Media Centre and accomodates host broadcaster Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), Olympic Channel Services (OCS), Meida Rights Holders, and Olympic Information Services (OIS). The IBC will serve as the main hub of broadcast operations to distribute the international signal for the live coverage of Gagwon 2024.
Also provided will be Media Areas at various venues. These will include:
- Mixed Zones for media and athletes
- Photo Positions
- Camera Positions – designated to OBS and Rights Holders
- Influencer Positions – provided to social media influencers accredited by Rights Holder organisations.
