Sky recently announced a five-year extension of its long-standing partnership with Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.), ensuring New Zealand cycling fans can continue to enjoy the world’s premier cycling events through to the end of 2031.
The renewed agreement, which begins in 2027, sees Sky remain the official and exclusive broadcaster of A.S.O. cycling events in New Zealand, including the iconic Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.
The partnership includes two Grand Tours for both men and women: the Tour de France and La Vuelta, as well as iconic men’s and women’s one-day races including Paris-Roubaix Hauts-de-France, Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège; leading stage races including Paris-Nice, the Tour Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Volta a Catalunya and the Santos Tour Down Under; and a range of other prestigious cycling events from across Europe and around the world.
Beyond cycling, the agreement also includes rights to other major A.S.O. events including the Dakar Rally.
Adam Crothers, Sky’s Head of Content Partnerships, says the extension reinforces Sky’s commitment to bringing the world’s best sport to New Zealand audiences.
“Few sporting events capture the imagination quite like the Tour de France, so we’re delighted to extend our partnership with A.S.O. for another five years.
“Cycling continues to have a passionate and growing fanbase in New Zealand, and this agreement ensures our customers can enjoy comprehensive coverage of the sport’s most prestigious events for years to come.”
Julien Goupil, Media and Partnership Director, said: “We’re proud to extend a relationship that has grown over more than 25 years and brought the world’s premier cycling events to New Zealand fans. Cycling is expanding everywhere, both on the road and behind the screens, and this renewal agreement ensures that New Zealand audiences remain part of that momentum, following the races they love through to 2031.”
The renewed partnership takes Sky’s relationship with A.S.O. beyond three decades, continuing a collaboration that has brought some of the world’s most celebrated cycling events to New Zealand audiences for more than 25 years.
