XR/AI filmmaking technology company ARwall has launched Infinite Studio, an extension of its ARFX App, which enables content creators to generate original, dynamic virtual environments that seamlessly integrate with camera tracking tools and LED walls in real time, significantly accelerating the video creation workflow.
Infinite Studio employs a proprietary generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) method to create photorealistic video backgrounds via a chat agent that transforms text-to-video prompts into 2D and 3D video environments. Recognised early on for its impact, Infinite Studio was awarded NAB’s 2024 AI/ML Product of the Year.
ARwall Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer Jocelyn Hsu believes Infinite Studio is a game changer.
“From day one, we have been committed to driving the evolution of the virtual production tools ecosystem,” Hsu noted. “Infinite Studio brings the exciting new field of GenAI to virtual production, making the whole process of VP easier to use without taking the human creative element away from filmmaking and storytelling. This advancement in mixed reality empowers creators who otherwise may not be able to tell their stories due to budget constraints or lack of technical expertise.”
Next-Generation Virtual Production Innovation
Hsu praised her development team for their inventive approach to usability. By integrating Infinite Studio into the ARFX App for Windows – ARwall’s most user-friendly software—chaining GenAI models, and incorporating a chat agent with a simple user interface, the team ensured that anyone can create video backdrops auto-processed for virtual production without requiring coding knowledge. Hsu highlighted the contributions of ARwall CTO Leon Hui, Senior Software Engineer Danny Vargas, and their stellar team, including Developer Rene Turcios and Software Engineer Dinh Le.
The genesis of ARFX Infinite Studio came from ARwall’s CEO Rene Amador, who, in tracking industry trends, anticipated that the rapidly growing VP industry would require more accessible tools and faster workflows. He challenged the product team to minimise the delay between concept and shooting.
“When we invented and patented in-camera XR filmmaking, we had no idea the impact it would have,” explained CTO Leon Hui. “It turned out to be a revolution because traditional filmmaking was ripe for reinvigoration. Looking forward, AI-generated video will likely become an integral part of creating video entertainment within the next decade, alongside increasing demand for human performance and storytelling in motion pictures. To remain commercially viable, tools will need to be as efficient as what is technologically possible with GenAI video. That is exactly what we have built.”
For Hsu, the most exciting aspect of the product is its accessibility.
“We’ve always worked to make our technology simple to use and accessible to a wider range of budgets. This is probably the most affordable and most capable software we have built to date, and it is incredibly easy for just about anyone to use. I am really looking forward to seeing the stories and content our users will create with ARFX Infinite Studio!”
